Seniors Exercise Classes
Karingal Green Wellness Centre offers exercise classes tailored for seniors. Our Senior’s Exercise Class is designed to promote overall health, flexibility, balance, improve strength and improve general mobility. There is also specific focus on exercises to promote bone density. Our focus is to provide a safe and enjoyable class for all levels. Our experienced physiotherapists lead the classes, providing a program to meet individual needs and goals of the participants.

Class Structure: The Senior’s Exercise Class is conducted in a spacious and well-equipped studio within the Wellness Centre. The class typically runs for 60 minutes, and participants can attend one or multiple sessions per week, depending on their preferences and availability.

Who Can Participate: Suitable for all individuals, regardless of their fitness level or prior exercise experience. Each class participant requires an assessment by a physiotherapist before commencing the class, to ensure the program is tailored to your specific requirements and goals. The initial assessment and subsequent classes can be claimed on Private Health Insurance.

Clinical Pilates Exercise Class
Our Clinical Pilates Exercise classes offer exercises designed to improve posture, promote core strength, balance, flexibility, improved breathing patterns and body awareness . Our classes are lead by experienced physiotherapists who help participants achieve their best outcomes. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or looking to enhance your physical performance, our Clinical Pilates Exercise Groups offer a safe and effective way to achieve your goals.
Participating in Clinical Pilates can have a wide range of benefits, including:
- Core Strength and Stability: Pilates exercises focus on strengthening the core muscles, which help stabilise the spine and pelvis. This can assist with improvements in posture, general joint stability, and musculoskeletal pain.

Group Structure: Each class typically runs for 60 minutes, and is usually a small group of 4 participants, ensuring personalised attention from our physiotherapists.
The class structure includes:
- Initial Assessment: Before joining the group, each participant undergoes an individual assessment to understand their specific needs, health status, and fitness goals.
- Exercise Progression: The exercises vary for each participant depending on needs and abilities. The exercises will progressively advance as strength and competence improve.
- Pilates Equipment: In most sessions, we use specialised equipment, such as reformers, the Trapeze Table, Wunda chair, hand weights, fit balls, Pilates balls and resistance bands.
- Mat Work: Some Pilates exercises are performed on mats, if individuals can get on the floor. These can be performed at home as part of a home exercise program.
- Breathing and Mindfulness: Participants are encouraged to focus on proper breathing techniques enhancing relaxation and movement patterns and focus during the exercises.
Who Can Participate: Our Clinical Pilates Exercise classes are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, as well as those recovering from injuries, managing chronic conditions, or wanting to improve their general well-being. Our physiotherapists will continually modify and progress the program to the needs and abilities of each participant. Early intervention Parkinson’s classes
We offer classes specifically tailored for people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Evidence shows early intervention after initial diagnosis can improve mobility and confidence, improve balance and reduce the risk of falls and also improve overall confidence and quality of life. There is also evidence to suggest early intervention can slow progression of the disease.
Each class is 50 minutes in duration and the exercises have been specifically chosen to address the specific needs of the client with Parkinson ’s disease.
We also offer individually tailored programs for those individuals living with more advanced Parkinson’s disease in both the hydrotherapy pool and gym setting. All classes and programs are run by qualified physiotherapists and are health fund rebate able. . Classes for Those with Dementia
Our exercise classes, designed to be dementia-friendly, are tailored to individuals in our community who have received an early dementia diagnosis and are interested in participating in a fitness program that is all-encompassing, enjoyable, secure, and suitable for their unique capabilities and requirements. We provide a variety of aerobic and resistance exercises in a carefully supervised and safe environment, along with clear instructions. These activities can offer significant emotional and physical advantages. The program comprises practical, repetitive exercises that become more familiar over time, enhancing participant involvement.
Each class has a duration of 50 minutes, and we warmly invite caregivers or partners to join and take part if they wish. We also have classes and exercise opportunities available for individuals in later stages of dementia, led by our experienced physiotherapists.
